BODMAS

This week for homework I gave students a mathematical challenge of four numbers to work with in BODMAS to produce as many different combinations they could fit on a page in their book. They need to do a minimum of three and maximum of four numbers in each combination.

Scoring for this was

For Three Numbers

If addition and subtraction are only used  – one point

If multiplication is used  – two points

If division is used – three points

If brackets are used when needed – three points

If four numbers are used they get an extra point added on

Example Addition and subtraction are now – two points

At this stage we don’t want negative numbers or remainders with division or fractions in their answers. Answers have to be whole numbers.

Hope this makes sense.
